A student of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Prachi Singh, died while on her way to attend class on Thursday morning.
According to reports, Prachi was going to attend class, when she suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious. She was rushed to the Sir Sundarlal Hospitalm, where she died during treatment. Prachi, who lived in room no.66 in Swastikunj hostel, was a student of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology (BA second year).
After the incident, hostel inmates and students staged a protest alleging negligence in treatment. The university administration tried to pacify the students. On receiving information, a team from Lanka police station along with women police force reached the spot to control the situation and later sent the body for postmortem.
