Yadav, a former minister in the state government, floated the party after his father expelled him from the RJD for six years in May.
Yadav had represented the Mahua seat till 2020 when RJD shifted him to Hasanpur.
Mukesh Kumar Raushan from the RJD is the sitting MLA from the Mahua seat. In the 2020 elections, 172,026 voters exercised their franchise, comprising 60.04% of the total electorate in the constituency.
In 2015, RJD candidate Tej Pratap Yadav won from the seat.
For years, JD(U) held this seat without serious competition. However, in 2015, RJD broke through with a surprise win, marking one of the constituency’s most dramatic upsets. Since then, contests here have grown more unpredictable.
The constituency will go to the polls on November 6, and the result will be declared on November 14. The seat will vote in phase 1 of the Bihar elections.
