Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana: Bihar govt transfers ₹10,000 to 2.5 million women

In a push to boost women’s economic participation, the Bihar government on Monday (February 16) transferred ₹10,000 each to 25 lakh women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. The total disbursal of ₹2,500 crore was made through direct benefit transfer (DBT), officials said.

The scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2025, aims to provide women with financial support to start businesses and generate livelihoods.

So far, about 1.81 crore women have received the initial ₹10,000 grant.
Officials added that women who have already invested the sum in business ventures could soon receive additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh under the scheme.

The initiative highlights the state government’s strategy to promote self-employment and financial independence among women.
