Police identified the woman as Savita Lodhi (30). According to police, Savita first threw her four daughters into a well located in a farm belonging to a local resident, identified as Harpal Ghoshi. All four children drowned in the well.After throwing the children into the well, the woman returned to her house and died by suicide by hanging, officials said.Police teams from Kesli police station and the Tada outpost rushed to the village after receiving information and recovered the bodies of the four girls from the well. The woman’s body was found hanging inside her house.All five bodies have been sent for postmortem examination after completion of the inquest proceedings.A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team also reached the spot and collected evidence as part of the investigation. Sagar SP Vikas Shehwal told TOI that the exact reason behind the deaths is not known yet. “Her husband had gone out for labour work. She had returned from a wedding earlier in the day and later in the night this incident took place. We are trying to find out the reasons behind it,” he said. Police said investigators are questioning family members and villagers as part of the probe to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
