Unsatisfied with the state minister’s response, Thakur highlighted that official records failed to reflect the on-ground situation and called for corrective action.
Maithili Thakur questions Bihar minister over hospital
During the Question Hour session on Monday, Thakur highlighted the condition of the government hospital building in her Assembly constituency. She stated that the condition was so critical that a major accident appeared imminent.
She stated that the plaster keeps falling from the ceiling, while people can see deep cracks on the walls. Even water leaks into wards during the rainy season, she added.
Despite all this, patients are being treated at the same place, while pregnant women and children are admitted, NDTV reported.
In reply to this, Pandey maintained that the Bihar government was addressing infrastructure concerns. He pointed towards approvals for the new hospital buildings in several areas as well as the ongoing construction at some sites. He even mentioned that hospitals with dilapidated buildings are being identified, while repair and renovation work will be carried out in a phased manner.
However, Thakur was not fully satisfied with the state minister’s response and said the hospital in her area has been on the list for years. She noted that so far, no repair or construction work on a new building has started.
“I’m not completely satisfied with the minister’s response, because it states that the building is not in a bad condition, it just needs to be repaired,” Thakur said. She even posted a video of the entire exchange on social media.

The BJP MLA wanted the state minister to explain again. She said she has seen that the building is in a ‘bad condition.’
“There’s a health system running in a small room. There is no MBBS doctor. In the past, there were two MBBS doctors there. But not now,” she said in the Bihar Assembly.
She further asked why government hospital buildings were in such a state even when the health budget is being increased every year.
Thakur said she was not questioning the minister and was making a request to him.
“Because I was very young, and since then, I have been seeing the health minister as a minister. I have been seeing him working on health… I want him to solve this in the interest of the public,” she said.
She even mentioned that five to seven panchayats depended on this hospital.
“It is clearly believed that 40,000 to 50,000 people benefit from this hospital,” she added.
Amid all this, the Opposition MLAs thumped the table to support Thakur, making a few members of the ruling party appear uneasy, as per NDTV. Later on, the Speaker intervened to take the discussion forward.
