The tech giant said the SAT practice tests are built directly into Gemini and will be offered at no cost. More standardised tests will be added in the future, the company said in a blogpost.
“To ensure they prepare you for the actual exam, we have grounded practice tests in rigorously vetted content from leading education companies like The Princeton Review,” Google said.
The SAT, or Scholastic Assessment Test, is a standardised university admissions exam administered by the College Board and used primarily by colleges and universities in the US. It is also recognised by institutions worldwide.
Taken by 16 to 18-year-olds, it assesses reading, writing, and math skills, with scores from 400 to 1,600. Over two million students worldwide take it annually.
Google said Gemini is intended to function as an interactive study tool rather than only a testing platform. After completing a practice test, students receive immediate feedback identifying areas of strength and weakness.
“When you complete a practice test in Gemini, you’ll receive immediate feedback highlighting where you excelled and where you might need to study more,” the company said.
“For anything you don’t understand, you can ask Gemini to explain the correct answer.”
Based on performance, Gemini generates a personalised study plan aimed at addressing specific gaps in knowledge. Google said this approach allows students to focus their preparation time more efficiently. The update was announced at the British Educational Training and Technology (BETT) conference, where Google outlined additional AI-based tools for students and educators.
Social media reactions to this have largely been positive.
