Earlier, the Aadhaar cards of both parents and the child were required while filling out the online application form for RTE admissions. But now, only one parent’s Aadhaar card is needed for the online application form, reported Times of India.
Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, the assistant chief secretary for Basic and Secondary Education, issued a new set of directives, stating that the government will only grant financial aid under RTE to parents’ Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts, which they must mention when applying for admission.
According to Sharma, “Our effort is to make ‘ease of living’ a reality as far as possible, especially for the families genuinely belonging to disadvantaged groups, in the spirit of RTE.”
The district-wise annual targets for admission will be determined up to 25% of the total capacity of the lowest entry class (Class 1 or pre-primary) of all unaided private schools.
Additionally, it added that all document verification will take place at the Block Education Officer and Basic Shiksha Adhikari levels.
On the designated date, an online lottery will be used to allocate schools to applicants whose applications have been accepted by the DM/CDO. The lottery process for school allocation will be conducted in two stages.
The first step is randomisation, in which verified and approved applications are shuffled online and issued a lottery number.
In the second round, each candidate will be assigned a school based on their preference, in ascending order of lottery number. The finalised list will be approved by the DM.
The order determines the age restriction for admission of boys and girls, stating that children aged 3 or older but less than 4 years will be accepted to nursery, while those aged 4 to 5 will be registered in LKG.
Similarly, children aged 5 to 6 will be admitted to UKG, while those aged 6 to 7 years will be assigned to Class 1.
