Villagers from Katewadi and neighbouring areas in Pune district, along with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers, queued outside the family home, raising emotional slogans such as “Ajit Dada Amar Rahe (Ajit Dada will live on forever)” and “Ajit Dada Parat Ya” (Ajit Dada please come back), as per news agency PTI.

Many mourners recalled Pawar’s contribution to the region, with several saying, “A leader like him will not be born again,” as per PTI.

Plane crash claims Pawar’s life
Ajit Pawar, 66, died on the morning of Wednesday, January 28, when a chartered Learjet carrying him crashed near the Baramati airstrip.
The accident also claimed the lives of two pilots, a flight attendant and a personal security officer.
On Thursday morning (January 29), Pawar’s mortal remains were brought from Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Hospital in Baramati, where they had been kept overnight, to his native village Katewadi.
