The development comes as political parties in Tamil Nadu intensify preparations for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in the first half of the year.
Call to set aside past differences
Earlier in the day, Dhinakaran said that past disagreements should not hinder broader political objectives, emphasising unity and reconciliation within the alliance, as per news ageny ANI.
Addressing a press conference in Chennai, Dhinakaran said, “With the larger objective in mind, we should not allow old issues to overshadow the party’s interests, the welfare of Tamil Nadu, or push them aside. Making compromises for the common good does not weaken us.”
He further underlined the need for collective effort among party cadres, stating, “Likewise, as Amma’s cadres, who serve as a unifying force, we will come together as one and stand firmly to ensure that Amma’s rule returns to Tamil Nadu, that people’s governance is restored, and that good governance prevails. That is our clear stand,” as quoted by ANI.
NDA steps up campaign activities
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a public meeting at Maduranthakam in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu district on January 23, as the BJP ramps up its campaign in the state.

The rally is expected to serve as a formal campaign launch for the NDA ahead of the Assembly elections.
Prime Minister Modi will deliver a special address, while AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, GK Vasan, John Pandian and leaders from other alliance parties are also scheduled to attend, as per ANI.
Electoral landscape taking shape
The NDA, led by the AIADMK in alliance with the BJP, will seek to challenge the ruling DMK-Congress combine in the upcoming polls.
The contest is expected to be triangular, following the launch of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has announced its intention to contest the elections and stake claim for leadership in the state.
With alliances being reshaped and campaign events lined up, political momentum in Tamil Nadu is steadily building as parties prepare to unveil their strategies and manifestos in the months ahead.
