On Sunday, the Election Commission declared by-elections for eight assembly constituencies in six states: Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Tripura.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the schedule during a press conference in New Delhi, saying that polling for assembly constituencies in Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland, and Tripura will take place on April 9, while elections in Gujarat and Maharashtra will take place on April 23.
The Election Commission stated that the counting of votes for all eight by-elections will take place on May 4, the same day that results for assembly elections in the other four states of West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and the Union Territory of Puducherry will be announced.
