Lucknow: An open Wi-Fi facility will be provided on Lucknow University campus, to improve digital access for students and faculty members.
A survey is on to identify optimal installation points and the project will proceed after the university submits an expression of interest to an Internet service provider.
Computer science and the works departments have been assigned responsibility to complete necessary paperwork and identify locations for setup.
Wi-Fi project is pending in LU since 2011. By 2019, over 80% of the Wi-Fi project was completed, with connectivity planned for departments, library and later hostels, but access was restricted largely to Tagore library and cyber library.
Vice-chancellor Prof J P Saini said, “Our goal is to provide seamless Internet access across the campus to support learning, research and academic collaboration.”
“The Wi-Fi will enable students and faculty to access resources anytime,” said the LU VC
