Renault India recently launched the new 2026 Duster SUV in the Indian market. The SUV is offered in five variants – authentic, evolution, techno, techno plus and iconic, with prices ranging from Rs 10.29 lakh to Rs 18.09 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The starting price of Rs 10.29 lakh applies to customers who pre-book their cars by March 2026; after that, the standard price starts at Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Pre-bookings for the new Duster are already underway. Interested customers can book the SUV online or at their nearest dealership, with deliveries expected to begin soon.
And now the company has revealed the ARAI-tested fuel-efficiency figures for the 2026 Duster’s 1.3-litre turbo-petrol powertrains. Mileage figures for the entry-level 100hp turbo-petrol manual and strong hybrid variants have not been disclosed. The 1.3-turbo petrol engine developed in collaboration with Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) delivers strong performance, with segment-leading 163 hp and 280 nm of torque. The engine delivers strong and smooth performance, with a clear surge of power during acceleration. The mid-range remains robust, aiding drivability. This turbo petrol engine is offered in both manual and automatic (DCT) gearbox options. The Duster returns a claimed 17.75kpl with the manual gearbox and 18.45kpl with the wet-clutch DCT. These numbers place the Duster among competitive options in the midsize SUV segment. Comparing this with its rival, the Hyundai Creta 1.5 turbo, it’s offered only with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. It has an ARAI-rated 18.4kpl, just .05 kmpl more than the new Duster. The Creta petrol returns 17.4kpl with the manual gearbox and 17.7kpl with the CVT. For the diesel variants, the manual is rated at 21.8kpl, while the automatic delivers 19.1kpl.
Renault has not yet announced prices for the Duster hybrid, stating that details will be revealed at a later stage. Despite this, the entire 2026 allocation has already been booked, though the company has not disclosed the number of units or total bookings. Bookings for 2027 deliveries are expected to reopen around Diwali 2026. The early sellout indicates strong demand for electrified powertrains, particularly in urban markets, where hybrid variants account for 39% of Duster bookings in metro cities.
