Taapsee Pannu pushes boundaries in ‘Gandhari’
According to Hindustan Times, Taapsee will perform intense action sequences in ‘Gandhari’ while blindfolded. She is set to push boundaries like never before, performing intense action sequences while blindfolded, adding a whole new layer of challenge to her character. This isn’t just stunt work; rather, it’s a new way of thinking about action heroes. In the blindfolded fight scenes, she cannot use her sight and must depend on instinct, muscle memory, and inner strength, turning her vulnerability into power.
The meaning behind Gandhari’s story in Mahabharata
In the epic Mahabharata, ‘Gandhari’, the Queen of Hastinapur, chose to wear a blindfold for the entirety of her marriage, symbolically sharing the blindness of her husband, King Dhritarashtra. Over the years, this act has sparked multiple interpretations, seen by some as a gesture of loyalty and by others as an act of silent protest upon learning of her husband’s blindness after their wedding. Many also view the blindfold as a metaphor for her unconditional yet misguided love for her sons, the Kauravas, who wage war against the Pandavas.
‘Gandhari’ directed by Devashish Makhija and written by Kanika Dhillon
Directed by Devashish Makhija, ‘Gandhari’ is penned by Kanika Dhillon, who also produced the film under her banner, Kathha Productions. As per the makers, the story revolves around a mother’s determined quest to find her kidnapped child. Set to premiere on Netflix later this year, the film also features Swastika Mukherjee and Ishwak Singh in prominent roles.
