The use of the new platform will commence with the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam-II, 2025, and the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Exam-II, 2025.
The new system, which replaces the older One-Time Registration (OTR) module, introduces a streamlined, four-part process designed to enhance the user experience and reduce last-minute rushes.
What’s new
The revamped portal is structured in four key modules. First, the users must create an account to access other modules. Then, the universal registration section collects personal and identification details that apply across all UPSC examinations.
In the third module, candidates must enter and update standard details in the Common Application Form (CAF) applicable to multiple exams.

Last, the Examination Section is dedicated to exam-specific details, including active notifications, comprehensive application forms, and real-time status tracking. Notably, the first three modules can be completed and updated in advance. This will allow aspirants to stay prepared and apply swiftly when an examination is announced.
Aadhaar-based verification is strongly recommended
To make verification and authentication smoother, the UPSC has advised candidates to use their Aadhaar Card as the preferred identity document, The Indian Express reported.
Uploading documents via the new portal is now mandatory. Once submitted with Aadhaar, the information will serve as a permanent and common record for all future exams.
OTR no longer valid
The commission, reportedly, has clarified that the earlier OTR system is now obsolete. Candidates must register afresh and upload their documents via the newly introduced platform. Applications for upcoming exams like CDS-II 2025 and NDA & NA-II 2025 will only be accepted through the new system.
Candidates are urged to follow through on modules one to three before any exam notification is announced to avoid technical issues and delays. The portal has detailed step-by-step instructions, accessible on the homepage, to facilitate the process. UPSC has encouraged all aspirants to access upsconline.nic.in and fill in their profiles as soon as possible.
