India’s cybersecurity sector remains largely male-dominated, with women comprising only 11% of the workforce, according to a 2024 report by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI). The scholarship seeks to equip future women leaders with financial aid, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive in the evolving tech landscape.
“The future of cybersecurity depends on a diverse and inclusive workforce driving innovation,” said Parvinder Walia, President of Asia Pacific & Japan, ESET. “Empowering women in cybersecurity is not just about education—it’s about providing the skills and mentorship to make a lasting impact.”
The scholarship will provide a one-time financial grant of $5,000 to an outstanding female student enrolled in the Computer Science programme at Ashoka University. Selection will be based on academic performance, leadership potential, community involvement, and dedication to advancing cybersecurity.
Since its inception in 2016, the ESET Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship has supported over 28 women worldwide. With its expansion to India in 2025, alongside the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK, the program continues its mission to build a more inclusive cybersecurity workforce.
Applications open from March 8 to April 25, 2025, with the winner set to be announced in May 2025. Indian citizens or permanent residents enrolled at Ashoka University are eligible to apply.
