A bulletin issued by the Rajya Sabha secretariat said the sitting of the Rajya Sabha fixed for Thursday, March 13, 2025, has been cancelled. “Accordingly, there will be no sitting of the House on that day,” the bulletin read.
Reports said that the Lower House may hold a sitting on March 29, Saturday, instead.
The second part of the Budget Session of the Parliament began on March 10. The session has been marred by repeated adjournments as the Opposition takes upon the ruling government over issues including alleged manipulation of electoral rolls, three-language policy under NEP, Manipur violence among others.
On March 12, Parliament passed a bill that seeks to amend the existing law governing the exploration and production of oil and gas as well as delink petroleum operations from mining operations to boost investment in the sector.
The Lok Sabha cleared the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, 2024, on Wednesday. The bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on December 3, 2024.
