
Authorities in the districts of Udupi and Kodagu have declared a holiday for schools, colleges and anganwadi centres as heavy rains continue to affect the state.
In Kodagu district, schools and colleges in Madikeri, Virajpet, and Somwarpet will remain closed due to continuous heavy rain.

All schools and anganwadis in Udupi will be closed today due to heavy rain. According to an order issued by the Udupi District Commissioner, “Schools and Anganwadis will remain closed today due to heavy rain in the district,” ANI reported.
The IMD has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, with isolated heavy rainfall over north Interior Karnataka during July 18 to 23. Light/moderate rainfall at many/some places over the state is predicted during the next seven days.
The IMD has also advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the Arabian Sea, along and off the Kerala and Karnataka coasts, until July 22 due to rough sea conditions.

In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD predicted extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka on Friday.
Meanwhile, the weather agency also issued a red alert for Rajasthan and Kerala on July 18.
