The 36-second clip, marked “AI GENERATED,” has gone viral, drawing sharp condemnation from the BJP, which called it a personal attack ahead of state elections.
The video, captioned “Maa appears in sahab’s dreams,” comes weeks after another row over alleged abusive slogans directed at PM Modi and his mother during a Congress-RJD event in Darbhanga. The BJP accused the Congress of repeatedly dragging Heeraben Modi into political battles, calling it an “insult to all mothers.”
BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal described the video as a “new low in politics,” alleging the Congress was using deepfake technology to mislead voters. “Prime Minister Modi has always kept politics separate from family life. It is painful that the Congress first abused the prime minister’s mother and is now insulting all mothers,” he said, vowing to approach the Election Commission.
BJP leaders Shehzad Poonawalla and Pradeep Bhandari also lashed out on social media, accusing the Congress of crossing limits and targeting women for political gains. “This is no longer the Congress of Gandhi; it has become a Congress of Gaali,” Poonawalla said, while Bhandari alleged the video was part of a campaign directed by Rahul Gandhi.
In Hyderabad, BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud escalated the attack, accusing the Congress of eroding political values.
“Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have stooped very low in Indian politics. They first abused PM Modi’s late mother in Bihar, and now the Bihar Congress has released a video using her to taunt him. Rahul Gandhi has lost political ethos and Indian culture. He is going to get a major lesson, and Sonia Gandhi has failed in bringing him up in a civilised way. It is time for every Indian to wake up and thrash out this abusive politics,” he said.

Congress, however, has defended the video.
Party leader Pawan Khera questioned the BJP’s reaction: “Where is the disrespect shown to his late mother? Show me one word, one gesture, anywhere where you see disrespect. It is the duty of the parents to educate their children. She is only educating her child and if the child thinks that it is disrespectful towards him, it is his headache not mine not yours. Why does the BJP try to make an issue out of everything and try to generate fake sympathy? There is no fake sympathy for these things anymore. Mr Modi cannot do a ‘touch me not’ politics, he is in politics and he needs to take everything, even a sense of humour of the opposition properly and actually there is no humour in it, there is ‘naseehat’ in this.”

The controversy has reignited tensions after PM Modi, in August, condemned abusive slogans against his mother as “an insult to crores of mothers and sisters of India.” He had then warned that Bihar would “never tolerate insult to a mother.”
Congress and RJD, meanwhile, have denied orchestrating the earlier abuses, saying they were shouted by unknown individuals. Opposition leaders also countered that BJP leaders themselves had used disparaging remarks against Congress women leaders, accusing the party of double standards.
