
The company said the incident was immediately contained through automated safety systems, including activation of sprinklers and shutdown of operations via its DSC control system. All personnel were evacuated from the affected area.
Workers with potential exposure were given first aid at the plant’s Occupational Health Centre, and some were shifted to nearby hospitals for further treatment. GFL reported one casualty, adding that the post-mortem report is awaited but prima facie it appears to have occurred during the evacuation rush. “We deeply regret this incident and the loss of life. Our thoughts and condolences are with the bereaved family, and we are extending our full support,” the company said.

The company is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident and said it continues to prioritise high safety standards across its operations.
The company said the impact of the incident, including equipment loss and business interruption, is covered under its Industrial All Risks (IAR) insurance policy. The company is surveying and assessing the quantum of loss and working towards restarting operations after complying with statutory requirements.
Shares of Gujarat Fluorochemicals fell 3.5% to ₹3,622.75 on the BSE as of 2:45 pm IST, extending their year-to-date decline to 14%.
