The company has signed a 25-year power supply agreement with the state utility for electricity generated from the upcoming greenfield ultra supercritical thermal power plant.
The project, designed on a build, finance, own, and operate basis, will consist of three units of 800 MW each.
The project was awarded following a competitive bidding process in which Adani Power emerged successful by offering the lowest supply rate at ₹6.075 per kilowatt hour. The company plans to invest nearly $3 billion in the plant and its associated infrastructure.
The coal requirement for the facility has been tied up under the Government of India’s SHAKTI policy. According to the company, the project is expected to generate 10,000–12,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, and around 3,000 jobs once operational.
