AGRA: A 30-year-old woman from Muzaffarnagar has been arrested for allegedly strangling her 40-year-old husband, a bank employee, to death with a rope, police said on Sunday.According to SHO Dinesh Chandra Baghel, the incident took place in the A to Z Road area under Naya Mandi police station limits. “Kavita killed her husband Sanjay Kumar on July 27 while he was asleep. She then attempted to hang the body to pass off his death as unnatural. At that moment, Sanjay’s son Nishu entered the house. Kavita hurriedly removed the rope, claiming that Sanjay had suffered a heart attack. Family members tried to revive him with CPR, but he had already died,” the SHO said. The cover-up came to light when Sanjay’s relatives noticed injury marks on his neck during funeral preparations and informed police, suspecting foul play. The body was sent for postmortem, which confirmed strangulation as the cause of death.A case was registered under BNS section 103 (murder). Following investigation, Kavita was arrested on Saturday. During interrogation, she confessed to the crime, telling police she killed Sanjay due to “neglect and his continued attachment to his first wife”. She has been sent to jail, the SHO said.
