
The protesting students gathered near the Dak Bungalow crossing in Patna and raised slogans against the government. They also breached the security barricades following which the Bihar Police started to baton-charge them, reported news agency PTI.
“Protesters gathered at Dak Bungalow crossing in large numbers and disrupted vehicular movement there. They also breached the police barricades and reached near the Kotwali Police station, which is a restricted area,” Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma told PTI.
“We requested them to vacate the area as it had caused a massive traffic jam. As they refused to pay heed to the appeal, the police resorted to baton-charge to disperse them,” he added.

Sharma further stated, “People are going beyond the places where permission was granted for protest. Legal action will be taken against anyone who disputes this.”
“Any person, be it a man or a woman, if they stage a protest or do anything illegal or step into the restricted area, action will be taken against them… If they want to make their points peacefully, we will try to get them in contact,” he told reporters, as per news agency ANI.

The protesting students were demanding that the total number of vacancies and the exam date for the post of constables in Bihar Police should be announced as early as possible, as per PTI.
PM Modi will visit Bihar’s Purnea district on September 15 to launch development projects worth over ₹36,000 crore, including inaugurating a new airport terminal. He is also expected to address a public rally.
