The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has announced a total of 26 positions open for contract-based assistant professors to join the faculty of the prestigious institute. Â
The institute will accept applications online ( www.aiimsexams.ac.in) from October 11 to October 18. All applications must be submitted by 5 pm of the closing date, AIIMS said.
Positions are open across forensic medicine (2 vacancies), pathology or cyto-pathology (4), psychiatry (1), ENT or otorhinolaryngology (3), neurology (3), urology (2), nephrology (2), community medicine (1), dermatology-venereology (2), pharmacology (2), medicine (1), prosthodontics and crown and bridge (1), and anesthesiology (1).Â
This includes reservations for individuals belonging to the Economically Weaker Section(EWS), Unreserved (UR), Other Backward Caste (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Applications under these categories must present a valid certificate to apply for the reserved posts.
According to the announcement, all applicants must not be older than 50 years and must fulfill educational qualifications that vary across positions.
For instance, an applicant for the role of assistant professor of neurology must have a doctorate of medicine (DM) spanning two to six years or an equivalent qualification in addition to MBBS. If the candidate does not have three to six years of recognised DM, they must have one year’s teaching or research experience in a recognised institution. Similarly, the finer details of eligibility vary across fields of medicine.
However, AIIMS has announced standard screening procedures for applicants in the medical stream and those in the non-medical stream. They will be scored out of 75 marks on three sections, including academic and professional achievements, research and publications, which carries the highest weightage, and teaching and presentations.
The screening process will begin only when each vacancy receives more than 10 applications.
All communication regarding applications and application fee payment is strictly online. The institution has also advised applicants to refrain from sharing “unnecessary documents” such as pay slips, resumes, appointment letters, relieving letters, and unsigned experience certificates, among others.Â
