According to the schedule, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry will vote on April 9, Tamil Nadu on April 23, while West Bengal will hold polling in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes for all constituencies will take place on May 4.
Ahead of every major election, electoral rolls are revised to include newly eligible voters, remove duplicate or outdated entries, and update changes in voter details. This process plays a crucial role in maintaining transparency and accuracy in the democratic exercise.
To help voters confirm their registration, the Election Commission has provided multiple convenient methods. Here’s a detailed, step-by-step guide to help voters check their names on the voter list for the upcoming elections.
Method 1: Check Your Name Online
The most common and easiest way to check your name in the voter list is through the official voter services portal managed by the ECI.
You need to visit the official website of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and click on “Search in Electoral Roll.” Users can then search their details by using their EPIC number (Voter ID), or their personal details like name, age, district, and constituency.
Fill in accurate information to avoid errors. Once submitted, your details, including polling station, constituency, and serial number, will display on the screen.
Method 2: Use the Voter Helpline Mobile App
Another method to check the voter status is through the Voter Helpline App, available for both Android and iOS devices.
After downloading the app from your app store, users can register and login into it. They can then access the “Search Your Name in Electoral Roll” feature. By clicking on it, a new tab opens where users need to provide personal details such as name, age, district, and constituency. Once done, the results pop up instantly, and you get to see the polling station details, constituency and other information.
Method 3: Offline Verification
For those who prefer offline options, voters can visit their nearest Electoral Registration Office (ERO) or designated voter facilitation centres. Check printed voter lists displayed at polling stations. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are also available in many areas to assist citizens in verifying whether their name is included in the electoral roll or not. Political parties also set up help desks during election season to guide voters as well.
If a voter finds that their name is missing from the list, they can reach out to their BLO officers or contact the voter helpline number 1950, which connects them to election authorities in their state.
