
Shares of Avanti Feeds have opened with gains of over 8%, while those of Apex Frozen Foods are up 11%. Waterbase, Coastal Corporation shares have also gained up to 7% in the initial trades on Wednesday.
The European Union, on Tuesday, approved 102 new Indian fishery establishments for exports to the European Union, in a move, that could add the number of Indian export establishments in terms of volumes by 16%.
India’ Commerce Ministry anticipates an immediate rise of over 20% in the trading volumes. The ministry also said that the move is a positive signal for the 13th round of the ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between India and the European Union.
The listing of these units by the European Union was a long-standing pending demand of India.
Marine exporters have recently been hit by the imposition of a 50% tariff on Indian exports to the US by the Donald Trump administration. The US is their biggest export market, followed by the European Union, China, Japan and Vietnam.
For Avanti Feeds, 17.4% of their revenue in financial year 2025 came from the European Union and that the company is already working on expanding its presence in non-US markets.
Apex Frozen Foods saw an increase in the contribution from the European Union to its overall topline. In financial year 2025, the European Union contributed 39% to Apex Frozen’s topline, higher than the 26% in financial year 2024. The company stated that it witnessed robust demand from the EU during the year and it continues to strengthen its presence in that market.
Coastal Corporation, IFB Agro and Waterbase are also suppliers to the European Union.
In addition to this, US President Donald Trump also wrote on his Truth Social that India and the US will continue their negotiations over a prospective trade deal and that he looks forward to speaking with his “good friend”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shares of Avanti Feeds have gained 3% in the last one month, while those of Apex Frozen have remained flat, but ended at the day’s high on Monday. Waterbase shares have gained 4.5% during this same period, while those of Coastal Corporation have underperformed, declining 7.5%.
