His statement comes amid widespread speculation that Singh might be fielded by the BJP from one of the seven assembly constituencies in Bhojpur district — likely Ara or Barhara — following his recent meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief and Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha.
In a post on X, Singh wrote, “I, Pawan Singh, want to inform my Bhojpuri community that I did not join the BJP to contest the Bihar assembly elections, nor do I wish to contest them. I am a true soldier of the party and will remain so.”
He also shared a photograph with Amit Shah alongside the message.
Singh had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election as an Independent from the Karakat constituency but lost to Raja Ram Kushwaha of CPI(ML) Liberation.
Adding to the political buzz, Singh’s wife, Jyoti Singh, met political strategist Prashant Kishor in Patna on Friday, sparking rumours that she might seek a Jan Suraaj party ticket for the upcoming polls.
However, Kishor clarified soon after the meeting, saying, “Jyoti ji came to meet us today. Let me make it clear that contesting elections or seeking a party ticket is not her intention. She came to share the personal difficulties she is facing.”
In recent months, Jyoti Singh has publicly appealed to several political leaders for support amid her ongoing marital dispute with Pawan Singh. The discord escalated recently when Jyoti visited the actor’s flat in Lucknow.
Following a 90-minute meeting, Singh reportedly left the residence while Jyoti stayed back. Police were later called to the scene, and Jyoti posted a video online alleging harassment and threats of eviction.
