Bihar Bandh: NDA leaders, workers block roads protesting remarks on PM Modi, his mother | Watch

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders and workers called for Bihar Bandh on Thursday, September 4, to protest against the alleged abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers blocked roads across various parts of the state against the remarks made at the INDIA bloc’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ dais where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his ally Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav earlier addressed the rally from.

While protesting against the remarks, Union Minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “It is the culture of India to respect the mother… If someone from our party had used this kind of language, we would have taken strict action and apologised… The public of Bihar will give a befitting reply to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.”

“It is very shameful that PM Modi’s late mother was abused and they have not apologised till now,” Prasad added, as per news agency ANI.

Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal said, “Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav should apologise to the nation.”

The BJP and NDA workers blocked roads in Bihar’s capital Patna along with staging protests in Gaya and Danapur, where workers were seen burning tyres to mark the agitation.

The protests were led by the women workers of the alliance.

BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh told ANI, “The mothers and sisters of Bihar are participating in the Bandh called by NDA over the derogatory remarks against PM Modi’s late mother at a Mahagathbandhan event in Bihar.”

“You cannot run away after abusing. The public of Bihar will give a befitting reply to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav,” he added.
