Independent MP Pappu Yadav supported the bandh and led protesters to block railway track in Patna. “Why will you ask for citizenship? Who are you? How I have been voting till now? What is the value of Aadhaar card – you tell me?” asked Pappu Yadav as he raised questions over the EC’s exercise.
Congress workers blocked railway track and lay down on the road in a line to block vehicles from crossing.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav hit out out at the Election Commission saying, “The Election Commission has become a wing of a political party… Will two people from Gujarat decide which Bihari voter can vote and which can not? The Election Commission has lost its credibility. Preparations are going on on a large scale to remove the names of poor people from the voter list. First, their names are being removed, then their pensions and their rations will also be taken away…”
Rahul Gandhi reached Patna for a “chakka jam” against the new labour code and special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.
Election Commission
The Election Commission has issued instructions to carry out a Special Intensive Revision in Bihar to weed out ineligible names and ensure all eligible citizens are included in the electoral roll, allowing them to exercise their franchise in the polls slated later this year.
The poll panel has said it has taken additional steps in the intensive revision to ensure illegal migrants do not get enrolled in the voters’ list.
It said the SIR is being conducted in accordance with the provisions of Article 326, RP Act 1950 and instructions issued on 24.06.2025.
