
On June 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated ₹5,735 crore worth of development projects in Bihar’s Siwan. There were 32 development projects across water, rail, and power sectors including 22 urban development schemes. (PTI)
The Bihar Cabinet approved 24 agendas on July 1. It has been decided to give a monthly pension of ₹3,000 to the artists of the state. Administrative approval was given for the development of Punaura Dham of Sitamarhi at a cost of ₹882.87 crore.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the construction of marriage halls in all panchayat areas in the state to facilitate the wedding of poor women. The Cabinet also decided to increase social security pensions to beneficiaries from ₹400 to ₹ 1,100 per month, and reduce prices of meals at canteens, run by self-help groups, from ₹40 to ₹20. A total cost of ₹4,026 crore would be spent on the construction of marriage halls.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on June 18 inaugurated the Bhupatipur–Punpun section of National Highway-22. The newly opened stretch includes both elevated and at-grade road sections, aimed at connecting Bhupatipur/Sipara, Mahuli, and Punpun.
On June 11, Nitish inaugurated the state’s first double-decker flyover in Patna, built at a cost of Rs 422 crore. The multi-tier flyover is constructed along Ashoka Rajpath and introduced a three-level traffic system. Tier 1 (Lower Deck) includes a 1.45 km stretch from Patna College to BN College. Tier 2 (Upper Deck) has a 2.2 km corridor from Kargil Chowk to Shatabdi Dwar, passing Patna Science College.
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal said a nuclear power plant and a 1,000 MW battery storage capacity unit would be set up in Bihar. He praised the Bihar government’s initiatives in the power sector such as reducing aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, installing 80 lakh smart meters and carrying out reforms in the sector. He, however, did not divulge the details as to where in the state the plant would be set up and what will be its capacity in terms of megawatt.
On April 24, PM Modi flagged off four new rail projects in the state, including Amrit Bharat express between Saharsa and Mumbai, and Namo Bharat Rapid rail between Jaynagar and Patna and trains between Pipra and Saharsa and Saharsa and Samastipur. PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various development projects worth around ₹13,480 crore.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on June 23 inaugurated a grain silo warehouse having a storage capacity of 50,000 tonnes in the Khagaria district. It is part of the Food Corporation of India’s (FCI) broader vision to ensure food security, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance operational efficiency through mechanised, bulk grain handling, he said.
