Why was the earlier nomination cancelled?
The Grand Alliance had recently faced a setback here after the Election Commission rejected the nomination of VIP’s previous candidate, Shashi Bhushan Singh, due to technical discrepancies and verification issues in his documents. In a bid to regain ground, the party has now fielded Shyam Kishore Chaudhary, hoping this move will strengthen the alliance’s vote base.
“No going back”
Just two days ago, Tej Pratap Yadav made a strong statement during the campaign, declaring: “We will embrace death, but will not return to that party.”
His remark is widely seen as shutting the door on any possibility of his return to the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
VIP contesting 15 seats
The VIP is contesting 15 seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls as part of the Grand Alliance (INDIA bloc). Initially, VIP chief Mukesh Sahni had demanded 25 seats and the post of Deputy Chief Minister, but the final seat-sharing arrangement settled at 15 constituencies.
