According to early polling trends, as of 11:00 am, Koridang (28) in Nagaland recorded a strong 41.06% turnout, the highest among all constituencies reported so far. It is followed by Dharmanagar in Tripura at 33.51%. In Karnataka, the Bagalkot seat has seen 27.83% of voters head to the polls, while Davanagere South trails slightly with a turnout of 22.01%.

The polls were necessitated for these Assembly seats following the passing of their respective representatives.
In Bagalkot, the Congress has fielded Umesh Meti (son of late leader HY Meti) against the BJP’s Veerabhadrayya Charantimath. In Davanagere South, Samarth Mallikarjun (son of Minister SS Mallikarjun) is running for Congress against BJP’s Srinivas T. Dasakariyappa.
More than 2.31 lakh voters are anticipated to exercise their franchise in Davanagere South, which has 284 voting stations and 25 candidates running. In Bagalkot, over 2.59 lakh eligible voters are likely to vote in 319 polling booths, where nine candidates compete.
Meanwhile, the Koridang (ST) seat in Nagaland sees a battle between Congress’ T Chalukumba AO and Daochier I Imchen, who is representing the BJP in place of his late father, Imkong L Imchen. There are 22,382 electors, including 11,071 women, who will decide the fate of six candidates.
In Dharmanagar, BJP’s Jahar Chakraborti faces Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharjee and CPI(M)’s Amitabha Datta following the death of Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen. In this constituency, a total of 46,183 voters are eligible to cast their votes.
While a by-election was planned for Ponda, it was cancelled by the Bombay High Court.
Earlier, the Election Commission announced the schedule for by-elections across eight assembly constituencies in six states: Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Tripura. Polling for Gujarat and Maharashtra is scheduled to take place on April 23.
The results for all the constituencies will be announced on May 4.
