In Circular-6 dated March 15, 2026, the board informed CBSE-affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE that all Class XII exams scheduled between March 16 and April 10 will stand cancelled.
The circular noted that the decision was taken after reviewing the feasibility of conducting examinations amid the escalating regional conflict and after receiving inputs from schools and authorities in the affected countries.
“This is in continuation of circulars dated 01.03.2026, 03.03.2026, 05.03.2026, 07.03.2026 and 09.03.2026. The feasibility of conducting board examinations of Class XII was further reviewed based on inputs obtained and requests received from schools and authorities of the affected countries,” the notice said.
According to the board, all examinations of Class XII scheduled from March 16, 2026 to April 10, 2026 stand cancelled for students studying in CBSE-affiliated schools across the seven West Asian countries.
The board also clarified that exams that had earlier been postponed through circulars issued in early March will now stand cancelled.
Earlier postponement and Class 10 exam cancellation
The decision follows an earlier move by
CBSE on March 6, when the board had announced disruptions to board examinations in parts of West Asia due to the ongoing US-Israel conflict involving Iran.
Following what it described as a “critical review of the prevailing situation in parts of the Middle East (West Asia),” the board had then cancelled all Class 10 examinations scheduled between March 7 and March 11 in West Asian countries.
At the time, CBSE had also deferred the Class 12 board examination scheduled for March 7, saying it would review the situation before announcing fresh dates for the postponed papers.
The board had said the results for affected Class 10 students would be declared through an alternative process to be notified later.
Result declaration to be announced later
In its latest circular, CBSE said the mode of declaration of results for Class XII candidates in these countries will be notified separately.
“The mode of declaration of results for Class XII candidates in these countries will be notified separately in due course,” the circular stated.
Copies of the notification have been sent to Indian embassies in the affected countries, including those in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Muscat, Doha, Manama, Kuwait City and Tehran, as well as the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
