“Our Prime Minister has always believed that ‘Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat’ must be a vision that is realised. Therefore, it is important to tell the country about our widespread culture. Biharis are spread across the entire country and we have prominent personalities, especially in the service industry, whether bureaucratic or otherwise. This initiative can be an effective tool to connect them all,” a source said.
The week-long programme will begin with the celebration of Bihar Diwas on March 22. The BJP, aiming to stay ahead, will be sending its MPs and ministers across the country for the week-long celebration of Bihar and its culture, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
“Several top leaders of the party, including BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will be participating in the programme throughout this period,” a source told CNN-Network18.
Apart from BJP leaders, top leaders of all alliance partners, especially in Bihar, including Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and Chirag Paswan, among others, will be participating in this programme.
The programme will also underscore how the “double engine government” has worked tirelessly towards the development of Bihar. The Prime Minister has also been stating the point that once a “sick state”, Bihar is now on the progressive path, though much more needs to be done.
An example of the Prime Minister’s commitment to the state of Bihar is evident from the number of announcements that have been made in the recent Union budget, including the pending demand of establishing a board for Makhana, a superfood.
Incidentally, home minister Shah’s visit, scheduled for March 27 and 28, is also expected to coincide with the celebration.
“A detailed discussion between JDU leaders, Union Minister Lalan Singh and JDU working president Sanjay Jha happened during a meeting with Amit Shah in reference to the same,” a source added.
It is expected that during his visit to Bihar, the home minister will hold several political meetings, not just with the Bihar BJP unit, but also with alliance partners in the state.
Bihar is expected to hold its Assembly elections around October this year, for which the NDA will fight together. The BJP, JDU, along with other parties, including Chirag Paswan’s LJP, Ram Vilas Paswan’s Hindustan Awam Morcha, and the RLM led by former union minister Upendra Kushwaha are expected to fight together.
The Bihar assembly has 243 seats, and the NDA currently holds 138. Currently, the BJP is the single largest party with 84 MLAs.
