Calling the legislation “historic and brave,” CM Gupta emphasised that the Bill will implement clear, comprehensive guidelines for determining and regulating fee structures in all categories of schools—government-aided, unaided, private, and others.
“I am overjoyed to share that the Delhi Government has taken a historic and bold step. The cabinet has approved a foolproof draft Bill that will establish standard procedures and guidelines for school fee regulation in Delhi,” Gupta said during a press briefing, as reported by news agency ANI.
The move follows closely on the heels of the Chief Minister’s April 15 warning to private schools against arbitrary fee hikes.
Addressing concerns raised by parents, Gupta stated, “Many parents have approached me with complaints. No school has the right to harass parents or students by hiking fees unreasonably. There are specific rules and protocols that must be followed.”
Gupta added that notices are being issued to all schools against which fee-related complaints have been received. “If any school is found violating these norms, strict action will follow,” she said, according to PTI.
