Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood confirmed the development, saying the content is being introduced to instil civic and social consciousness in students.
“The chapter on RSS is being added under this programme to inculcate civic and social consciousness among students and to bring Fundamental Duties into focus,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.
The chapter is designed to foster civic consciousness, ethical governance, and national pride among students from Class 1 to Class 12.
According to a report in The Times of India, a prominent highlight of the curriculum is the chapter
RSS@100, which will commemorate the organisation’s centenary by researching its beginnings, philosophy, and role.
The chapter will most likely discuss its founding values, emphasis on discipline and service, and involvement in social activities such as blood donation drives, disaster relief during the Kedarnath tragedy, and support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sood defended the new curriculum, emphasising the importance of learning about the RSS in schools, adding that it will also include lessons on freedom fighters.
“What is wrong with learning about RSS? Introducing students to the history and journey of a century-old organisation is a meaningful way to broaden their understanding of the nation’s social and cultural fabric. The curriculum will include lessons on freedom fighters, so that students can learn more about them. Beyond that, the content is extensive and well put together. We recently launched the basic outline, and now the full set of books is being prepared and finalised,” Sood added, TOI reported.
Launched on September 18, as part of the Namo Vidya Utsav, the Rashtraneeti program aims to provide students with practical knowledge of governance, democracy, and active citizenship. The Rashtraneeti curriculum, designed for Classes I to XII, is under review until October 15, with final textbooks expected in November 2025, as per the sources to TOI.
It highlights India’s diverse history, including celebrated and lesser-known freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A special section will explore Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s contributions, given his association with RSS.
