Search operations are also underway at the Aakash Institute of Engineering and locations connected to other accused in the case.
According to the case background, over 2,000 engineering seats were reportedly blocked fraudulently, depriving eligible candidates and financially benefiting certain private colleges. The scam was initially investigated by the Malleswaram Police in 2024, leading to the arrest of around a dozen people, including a contract staff member of the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
The ED has since taken over the investigation from the local police, following reports of large-scale financial irregularities and laundering of money through blocked seats. Notices were also issued to several engineering colleges last year.
This is a developing story.
