
The Haryana government on Tuesday, December 23, announced winter vacations for all government and recognised schools across the state from January 1 to January 15, 2026. The winter break will apply to students from Class 1 to Class 12, according to a notification issued by the Directorate of School Education.

However, students of Classes 10 and 12 may be required to attend school during the vacation period for practical examinations. The Directorate clarified that while regular classes will remain suspended, schools are permitted to call senior secondary and secondary students for practical exams in line with the guidelines of respective boards such as CBSE and ICSE.
In its letter, the Directorate instructed district and school authorities to ensure strict compliance with the orders in all schools under their jurisdiction.
“Regular classes will not be held during the winter vacation. However, in accordance with the rules of boards such as CBSE and ICSE, students of Classes 10 and 12 may be called to school for practical examinations. Schools must follow the respective board guidelines for this,” read the letter, cited an Indian Express report.

Schools have been directed to make necessary arrangements for practical examinations while ensuring student safety during the winter break.
