Since December 1, 2024, more than 500 job offers have been made, with over 88% of students securing employment, according to a report by News18.
The average annual salary now stands at ₹27 lakh — a 13% increase from last year, reflecting both the high calibre of IIT Indore students and the growing industry demand for their skills.
Over 150 reputable companies from various sectors, including IT, core engineering, fintech, automotive, energy, environment, consultancy, finance, semiconductors, and construction, as well as public sector enterprises, visited the campus during the drive.
“This year’s placement season has been outstanding. For the first time in our history, annual offers have crossed ₹1 crore,” said IIT Indore Director Professor Suhas S. Joshi, reported The Times of India.
“The placement process is still ongoing, with about 88% of registered students placed so far. Around 12 to 15 more companies are yet to arrive,” Professor Joshi added.
Not all of the 813 graduating students participate in placements, with some opting for entrepreneurship or choosing to pursue higher studies.
Despite the strong placement results, Professor Joshi acknowledged that IIT Indore’s position in the 2026 QS World University Rankings dropped to 556. He pointed to the gap between ranking metrics and the institute’s ongoing qualitative improvements — a gap he expects to bridge within the next five to seven years.
