India achieved a remarkable milestone at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025, held in Sunshine Coast, Australia. Out of 110 participating countries, the Indian team secured a place in the top 10 – a proud and historic moment. The six-member team tackled six difficult problems covering topics such as algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory. With multiple medals won, India has set a new national record at the IMO. Here is a country-wise list of the top 10 rankings at IMO 2025:
1. People’s Republic of China | China topped the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad with an impressive total score of 231 out of 252. All six participants from China won gold medals, securing a flawless gold tally and demonstrating exceptional mathematical prowess.
2. United States | The US claimed the second rank with a cumulative score of 216. Their team bagged a total of seven medals – 2 gold and 5 silver, showcasing the depth of their talent across the board.
3. Republic of Korea | South Korea secured the third position with a score of 203. The team earned 3 gold and 2 silver medals, marking another consistent and strong showing at the Olympiad.

4. Japan | Japan finished fourth with a total score of 196. The team took home 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, maintaining their long-standing tradition of high performance in mathematical contests.
5. Poland | Poland came in fifth, with 194 points. With 3 gold and 3 silver medals, the Polish team matched Israel’s score but ranked higher based on medal weightage.
6. Israel | Israel also ended with a score of 194, just behind Poland due to fewer golds. Their medal haul included 1 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze, placing them in sixth position.
7. India | India created history by scoring 193, its highest-ever total at the IMO, securing the 7th rank. The team won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal. 8. Singapore | Singapore closely followed India with a total of 191 points. Their team mirrored India’s medal tally – 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze, but finished in 8th place based on overall score.
9. Vietnam | Vietnam claimed the ninth spot with a score of 188. Their team secured 2 gold and 4 silver medals, continuing the country’s tradition of strong mathematical performance.
10. Türkiye | Türkiye completed the top 10 with 186 points. The team brought home 2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal, rounding off an impressive campaign at the IMO 2025.
