Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi pointed out that the world was witnessing intensifying geopolitical conflicts, with the US dominance being challenged by emerging powers like China and Russia. This shift indicates a move away from a unipolar global order, he noted.
“I was looking at the economic survey and two points I found there, solid points, profound points that I liked. First point, that we are living in a world of intensifying geopolitical conflict… The dominance of the United States is being challenged by the Chinese, by the Russians, by other forces,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
He further highlighted that the world is experiencing the weaponisation of energy and finance, with both being used as strategic tools in global power struggles.
“The second thing is that we are living in a world of energy and financial weaponisation. The main thing they are saying here is that we are moving from a world of stability to a world of instability. Prime Minister stated, and NSA stated, shockingly, some time back, that the era of war is over. In fact, we are moving into the era of war,” he added.
He noted that the Economic Survey suggests a shift from an era of stability to one of instability, contradicting earlier statements by the Prime Minister and National Security Adviser that the era of war is over.
He highlighted the escalating global conflicts, citing wars in Ukraine, Gaza, and the Middle East, along with tensions in Iran, to emphasise the shift towards instability.
“You can see war is there in Ukraine, war was there in Gaza, war is there in the Middle East, threat of war is there in Iran. We had operation Sindoor. So we are moving into a world of instability. The dollar is being challenged. The central game, as my friends on the other side understand, is that dollar is being challenged, US supremacy is being challenged. We are moving from a world of one superpower to some new world that really we can’t predict,” he said.
Gandhi further criticised the government for compromising India’s interests, saying they’ve allowed the US to dictate energy security and weaponise finance against India.
Hitting back at the Centre over the India-US interim trade agreement, he accused the government of compromising national interests and asked if it was “not ashamed of selling India.”
“When America says we cannot buy oil from a particular country, it effectively means our energy security is being dictated externally — that energy itself is being weaponised against us. Are you not ashamed of this? I am saying you have compromised India’s interests. Have you no shame in what you are doing? It is as though you have sold ‘Bharat Mata’,” he said.
He emphasised that if the INDIA bloc was negotiating with US President Donald Trump, they’d prioritise Indian data’s importance. He stressed the need for equal treatment, saying, “Talk to us like equals, not like we are your servants”.
Gandhi highlighted India’s energy security and farmers’ protection, stating, “Please understand that our energy security is ours, we are going to protect it. We understand you have an agricultural voter base, that you need to protect farmers, but we will also protect our farmers. We will not be made equal to Pakistan.”
His speech comes after days of protests by the Opposition after the Chair did not allow Rahul Gandhi to speak after mentioning former Army Chief General MM Naravane’s unpublished memoir.
