Puducherry is scheduled to go to polls in April this year along with four states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and West Bengal.

MNM was founded by veteran actor Kamal Haasan in 2018. The MNM did not contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but it actively campaigned for the DMK-led INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu. In return, the DMK promised MNM a Rajya Sabha seat. MNM had previously secured 2.62% of the votes in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Currently, Haasan is a Rajya Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu.
