Kamra, known for his political satire, expressed his views on X (formerly Twitter) after facing backlash for remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in his stand-up special, Naya Bharat.
“The mainstream media at this point is nothing but a miscommunication arm of the ruling party,” Kamra wrote on X. “They are vultures who report on issues that dont matter to the people of this country. If they all shut shop from tomorrow till eternity they will be doing favour to the country, its people & their own children,” he added.

Kamra’s comments came amidst controversy surrounding Naya Bharat, which satirises political developments, including the Shiv Sena and NCP splits. The video, which garnered over 8.2 million views on YouTube in five days, was blocked due to copyright restrictions preventing revenue generation.
Police declines relief request, issues second notice
The Mumbai police have summoned Kamra following a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, alleging defamatory remarks against Shinde.
The Khar police issued a summon on Tuesday, followed by a second notice on Wednesday, instructing Kamra to appear before the investigating officer, rejecting his plea seeking extension to appear after a week.
Kamra had earlier stated that he will not apologise for his remarks.
Minister Vaishnaw justifies police action
Union Minsiter Ashwini Vaishnaw defended the summons, stating that legal procedures must be followed. Speaking at a Times Now event, he remarked, “If the law of the land requires it, it should be done.”
“Freedom of speech and expression is well laid out. Everybody respects it. The Constitution has also laid certain safeguards, and those are as important as the rights,” he added.
Don’t test patience, arrest Kamra: Maharashtra minister
Maharashtra Tourism Minister and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Shamuburaj Desai has called for Kamra’s immediate arrest, cautioning the police against testing party workers’ patience.
“We have been asked by Shinde to observe restraint, that is why we are quiet. As Shiv Sena workers, we know how to drag him out from wherever he is hiding, but as ministers, we have some restrictions,” Desai told reported, quoted PTI.

He warned the police, saying, ” “Do not test our patience and nab him from wherever he is, put him in a tyre and give him ‘prasad’.” In Marathi, ‘prasad’ refers to an offering made to God but is also used as a euphemism for punishment.
