
The protestors are demanding the inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The protests turned violent as a clash broke out between the police and the demonstrators.

The ongoing protests are led by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) which turned violent as the protestors alleged that the Centre did not acknowledge their demands, as per News18.
The LAB group had called for protests on September 24 after two of its members, who were on a 35-day hunger strike which started on September 10, fell ill and were taken to hospital on the evening of Tuesday, September 23.
About 15 people had went on the hunger strike, as per News18.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk also participated in the ongoing protests in the region.
The police fired teargas shells and resorted to baton charge to control the crowd.
Stone pelting by the youth was also reported.
