
The government is likely to move a resolution to extend the President’s Rule in Manipur that was imposed on February 13. As per the Constitution, a proclamation of the President’s Rule needs to get the Parliament’s approval for every six months and the present deadline ends on August 13.
A total of 12 bills, including some that were introduced and others pending before parliamentary panels, are part of the government’s legislative business for the session. The one-month Parliament session will begin on July 21 and end on August 21.
The impeachment motion against former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma is likely to come up in the session. A huge amount of cash was recovered while firefighters put out a blaze at the judge’s official residence in Delhi in March. The judge had denied any wrongdoing on his part.
