Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday, December 11, called on India’s youth to take charge of shaping the country’s future, especially at a time of intense global competition in emerging technologies.
He was speaking at the 13th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) in Gandhinagar.
Addressing the graduating class, Ambani said the world is facing economic uncertainty, with the global economy growing at less than 2%, while India is expanding at nearly 8%. “There is erosion of confidence all around, but India is bubbling with growth and self-confidence,” he said.
Ambani cautioned that geopolitical shifts have created fresh challenges, making it essential for India to strengthen its capabilities in critical technologies and key industries. He emphasised that the country must achieve self-reliance and atmanirbharta in advanced fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, nuclear fusion, biotechnology, and space technology.
“Right now there is stiff global competition in these sectors. In this space, jo jeeta wahi sikandar,” Ambani remarked, adding that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he believes “Bharat jeetega, Bharat aage badhega, Bharat duniya ko badlega. (Bharat will win, surge ahead, change the world.)”
He also reflected on the rise of AI and tools like ChatGPT, noting that while technology can provide answers, true leadership will come from those who ask the right questions.
“In today’s world, ChatGPT can give you answers, but only you can ask the right questions. In the age of AI, the person with the most answers is smart, but the person with the best questions is the best leader,” he told students.
