Nagpur: The Nagpur University has vacated two floors of its examination section for Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU) triggering a major internal reshuffle during the peak summer exam season.
NU has already begun relocating key exam operations, with the spot valuation centre shifted to the old administrative building opposite Maharajbagh, while on-screen evaluation work is being accommodated in the new administrative building. Officials said the remaining sections will be moved in phases to avoid disruption to the ongoing result declaration process and upcoming summer examinations. Vice-chancellor Manali Kshirsagar said the shifting process is underway with a tight deadline. “A deadline of April 10 has been indicated, and we will see how efficiently it is completed,” she said.
LITU, after it became a university nearly three years ago, had been demanding the space for its expansion. Vacating such a large examination building immediately was not possible, so the remaining floors will be handed over gradually without affecting examinations.
Initially, NU had decided to get a new building from the state govt for the exam section and only then vacate the existing one. Part of the exam work will now be handled from Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building and part from the old administrative building. Interdependent sections will be kept together in one place, NU officials said. Since the old building does not have enough space to accommodate the entire exam section, NU is forced to stagger the department.
University officials admitted that a complete relocation by April 10 may be challenging given the ongoing examination workload.
