The remarks came after the Congress shared a video clip that seemed to show Menon endorsing their campaign against alleged electoral fraud. The clip showed Menon’s character, Himmat Singh, from the web series Special Ops, urging people to support the drive. The video was shared with the caption, “Himmat Singh kuch keh rahe hain, jaldi se kar aao! Band karo.” (Himmat Singh is saying something, quickly get it done! Stop it.)
Kay Kay wrote on social media, “Please let it be noted that I have not acted in this ad. A clip from my Special Ops promotions has been edited and used without permission.”
He stressed that the clip was taken from promotional content related to the show and was never meant to endorse any political movement.
‘Vote Chori’ campaign
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the Election Commission (EC) of enabling large-scale electoral fraud,
calling it ‘vote chori.’
The Congress leader said his six-month probe uncovered over 100,000 fake voter entries in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura constituency, including duplicate IDs, bogus addresses like “House Number 0,” and 80 voters registered at a tiny 10-15 sqft house. He also highlighted alleged misuse of Form 6 and bulk registrations.
Rahul Gandhi claimed the EC refused to share machine-readable voter lists and CCTV footage, which he says would prove manipulation. Similar issues were flagged in Maharashtra and Haryana.
The EC rejected the allegations as ‘misleading’ and politically motivated, demanding Gandhi substantiate his claims under oath or apologise publicly.
The Congress has also launched a dedicated web portal, where citizens can register their concerns about alleged vote theft and demand accountability from the Election Commission.
Since its launch, the campaign has gained over 1.5 million support certificates downloaded and more than 1 million missed calls received, according to Rahul Gandhi.
On Monday, approximately 300 India alliance leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained during a march from Parliament to the Election Commission’s office in New Delhi. They were protesting against these alleged electoral malpractices.
