“We shouldn’t remain in any doubt, proceedings to remove Justice Yashwant Varma will begin in the Lok Sabha,” Rijiju said while addressing a press conference in New Delhi.
Rijiju said the impeachment motion is a joint call by all the parties against any form of corruption in judiciary.
“All the political parties have agreed that removal of Justice Varma has to be a joint call. There should be no issue with regards to which house it has to be moved,” he added.

Rijiju added that there has been an agreement for the motion to be moved in Lok Sabha and it will be subsequently concurred in the Rajya Sabha with thorough discussions on the matter in both the Houses during the ongoing Monsoon session of the Parliament.
The Opposition-sponsored notice for a similar motion was not taken up in the Upper House, paving way for Lok Sabha to admit the matter, PTI has reported.

Allahabad High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Varma is in question as a huge sum of cash was found burnt in a store room during a fire at his residence in New Delhi in March this year.
During that time, he was serving as a judge of Delhi High Court but was removed and sent back to Allahabad HC. Then Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna had constituted a three-member judicial panel in the matter and subsequently sent the report ahead for beginning the impeachment motion against Justice Varma.
As of now, over 150 members of Parliament in Lok Sabha have signed the motion, while more than 50 have done so in Rajya Sabha, as per PTI. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear Justice Varma’s plea against the motion.
