The biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha concluded on Monday (March 16) to fill 37 seats across 10 states. Voting took place in three states, while candidates in seven states were elected unopposed.
A total of 26 candidates were elected unopposed across several states. For the remaining 11 seats, 14 candidates were in the fray, making the polling necessary. Elections were held in Haryana, Odisha, and Bihar.
The BJP has won 13 seats while its allies clinched seven seats in the Upper House. An Independent backed by the BJP also won the seat in Odisha.
