Reactor blast at Sigachi Pharma plant in Telangana kills 10

A reactor explosion occurred at the Sigachi Pharma facility in Pasamailaram Phase 1, Medak district, Sangareddy, Telangana, according to an ANI report. Multiple reports suggest that as many as 10 workers have died and 13 others have been injured.

The blast prompted an immediate emergency response. A total of eleven fire tenders were dispatched to control the fire and stabilise the site.

The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals. There has been no word on the nature and severity of the injuries. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Authorities are yet to release findings or identify the specific reactor processes involved.

The shares of Sigachi Industries plunged over 12% on the BSE, falling to ₹48.39 apiece in intraday trade. By 12:00 PM, the stock was trading 11.27% lower at ₹48.96 per share. Sigachi Pharma is part of Sigachi Industries, a manufacturer known for its pharmaceutical excipients and chemicals.
